you have done all that you can do in this so continue to be a co-worker and friendly and perhaps he may decide to open up to you later. The fact that he is working 3 jobs and looking for another one makes me think he is trying to keep busy but I wonder why? Perhaps he has a drug habit, perhaps an ex-wife and several children to support, or perhaps he is trying to build a wall between himself and anyone else and you are threatening that wall so he is not interested in knowing you better. anyone tht tries to work 4 jobs has a monkey of some kind on his back so perhaps you are better off not getting too close to this guy.

He's busy and he's not interested in making friends or lovers. He calls you by your last name because that's what he's comfortable calling you and doesn't care what you prefer. Leave the guy alone. Not everyone on the planet is interested in making new friends. Besides, you work together. A lot of people have personal policies where they do not make friends at work. I'm sure you've noticed workplace drama and he just doesn't want to deal with it. He'll be friendly at work, but he's not going to be your friend or your lover.

Have you suffered a head injury or something? This guy isn't interested in you at all. He's telling you that you don't want to get to know him, because he doesn't want you to. As for calling you by your last name, it's a signal that he has no respect for you or your wish that he call you by your first name. Sometimes people just rub you the wrong way for no apparent reason at all and apparently, you rub him the wrong way. Just leave the poor guy alone. If he were interested, he'd pursue you.

What he's been trying to tell you is that he is not interested in you. If he calls everybody else at work by their first name and he refers -only- to you by your last name, he's just trying to make sure you don't get too friendly. There's nothing -really- to be confused about, this guy is just NOT that into you...

I can't, as a guy, explain this behavior. For whatever reason he really doesn't want to know you and all you can do is respect his wishes.
Rememeber that if he was constantly telling you to call him by his first name, and offering his phone number when you didn't want him to do these things it would be called sexual harrasment.
He deserves the same respect as you do. Just back off, and think of him as off the wall.

It sounds like, as they say, "He's just not that into you". Or he is holding back for some reason, maybe he doesn't want to date a coworker, maybe he doesn't want to change the friendship, maybe he wants to be the one making the moves. My advice would be to wait, and see. They say timing is everything and maybe the timing isn't right yet. Of course its easy to give advice not knowing the whole situation or you two at all.

I'm sorry about my opinion, but I'll be honest. I think that he can tell you are interested in him, he's not into you the same way, and he is trying to discourage you but does not how to be honest or tactful about it. I have been "the guy" in that situation before, and I don't know how to handle it well, either.
Don't take it hard. It happens to everyone!!!!

Dear miss W...when someone wants to get close, they will call you by your first name...and when they don't like you, they call you by your last name, just to keep it professional....or don't you get the concept? Stay away! Drop dead! There, I said it for him...phew...that was easy for me...maybe he isn't as crass as I am? give the guy a break.

Its obvious that he is not interested in you in other way than professional and it's pretty clear by the way he treats you and the fact that he didn't give you his number. There's nothing to be confused about, just move on

He has made it very clear that he doesn't want an relationship with you and is trying to get you off his back. Why would you ask a guy for his number - let him do all the chasing!
