The American and British soldiers ate Dehydrated food and crackers --a Lot of tin canned meat mainly called Bully Beef.. They had canned milk and vegetables as well. Plus alot of soup and stew type dishes and hard crusted breads. The troops would often scrounge the farm houses for Fresh eggs and Chickens and groups of 6-8 men would pool their resources of what they found and cook and eat it. This type of meal was when they were billeting or in the rear resting. The Canned beef and Crackers and such was common food while in the trenches on the front.
