I see on Answers that people ask alot of questions about bands of the 60's and 70's and classic rock songs and hardly anyone uses the Rolling Stones in their answers. I just don't understand where are the Stone fans are. They are one of the best bands ever, not to mention they are still around and still touring like crazy.
What are your thoughts?

Kenny A thankyou a Bigger Bang was a great album - saw them in concert twice for that tour - it was amazing (best live show in my opinion)

The other thing that I don't understand is the fact that I keep getting thumbs down every time I put them as an answer. I could be wrong but I chalk that up to just plain ignorance (not in a bad way - I just think that people who haven't listened to them - I mean really listened to them have an idea of what they are all about but just don't really get it)

I think that the Rolling Stones don't get much thought when it comes to classic rock is the fact that they are still going strong.
If they had faded away like Pink Floyd or had a tragedy happen to them like John Bonham in Led Zeppelin, then I think the mindset would be different.
That being said , I saw them in Toronto at SarsFest a few years ago and AC/DC blew them away... I think they should pack it in.
But they did create some great music in the 60's and 70's ,
no doubt about it.

I first got into the Rolling Stones back in 1983 when i was at Jobcorps i was stoned and somebody asked me to listen to Hot Rocks 64-71 and it was there i first heard the live version of Midnight Rambler and Sympathy For The Devil and Paint It Black and i was hooked and wanted to hear more and then i heard You Cant Always Get What You Want and i knew how great this band really is there amazing over 40 years and they still got me rocking! The greatest rock and roll band of alltime oh yeah! Rolling Stones 4 ever! Rock on!!! And there 1981 album Tattoo You and Steel Wheels from 1989 are both excellent albums!

If you were to pull a list of the top "classic rock" songs, the Stones might have 1 or 2 - they weren't really a classic rock band. I have a lot of respect for them, but they're not one of my favorites,

I think people already assume everyone already knows about the Stones, they're just so famous.
I'm not a huge fan, but they've began growing on me recently, I find myself singing Ruby tuesday and Memory Motel all the time.

The stones have some great songs. Their career has been more uneven than some. The old stuff was better than anything before or since.
