Im having a Boy,Yes its our first! We are going to start on the bedroom this week,we have dark cherry oak furniture,i really dont want to do baby blue or light green.are there any more boyish colors? I want something that can be on the walls for 5 or so years before doing "big boy decorating".?

How about a really nice taupe. It would go great with the cherry furniture and for an infant teddy bears of all shades will be great with maybe a deep blue window treatment and crib decor with an area rug of the same color with maybe some wine color accents.

My son is 3 and we are in the process of redecorating with accessories because he is now expressing a love of helicopters and trains. We don't have to change the neutral pain or accent area rug but the accessories are making it from a baby boys room to a big boy room.

Congratulations and good luck!

I'm an artist, and have painted several table sets for litle boys with the vintage plane theme, and it is soooo adorable and is also a perfect room for big boys too. The ones I've painted have all used navy, red, cream and a khaki/greenish color that all go well together. You could do it mostly the nice khaki with accents of those colors. Congrats on your first boy! I just had my first girl!!!! :)

I did a very pale yellow and little duckies. Of course, by the time my little guys was two, he was all about transportation and the solar system. So now there is an odd mix of duckies, airplanes, cars, and planets hanging from the ceiling. But he loves it. If you're looking for a theme that will hold up for five years, I'd go with transportation. All little boys like cars, trucks, and airplanes.

I did an animal/jungle theme and loved how it turned out. It IS green, but a darker, hunter green and looks great with white trim and animals and jungle stuff everywhere. We even have vines with toys hanging on it.
