This is what you need to do:

1. Do school plays, community theatre, sing in choir, take acting classes at school, etc.

2. A year or so after that, after building a reputable name in the community, do local print work or commercials.

3. Once you have commercials or print work circulating, build up a resume, and get some good pictures of you (headshots are good, but not a necessity at this point), and send them out to local talent agencies.

Look here for agents:

Requirements change, but generally agencies look for people with good personalities, easy to work with, have a solid "type", resposible/dependable, dedicated to craft, are ACTUALLY talented, and will do whatever it takes.

TheatreDoc has good advice, and may I say it's great to have someone here willing to offer their help and expertise.

You do need to get at least some work "under your belt" before pursuing an agent. Having an agent is a big help in finding work, but is not a requirement. You need to learn how to hit the bricks on your own first.

And yes, it is tough to get work. Even the most supportive people will give you dire warnings about how hard it is. But persistence is what it's about.

Speaking of dire warnings: I paste this to all agent-related answers, like the warning labels on cigarettes. All newcomers need to know this; it's practically Greenhorn Rule One...

NEVER GIVE MONEY TO AN AGENT. Agents make their money by getting a percentage of what you earn as an actor; nothing else. Anyone calling themselves an agent who asks for a fee, or insists you go to this-or-that acting teacher or headshot photographer, is a crook.

...Good luck!

It is not as easy as mimi would have you think. First of all you need to gather all your experience into a resume, then let me see it and I will tell you if it is good enough to submit to an agent. Second, your parents have to get the agent for you, since you cannot sign a contract until you are 18.
