Yes, to play with more than 1 person you DO need extra controllers. I have had this game for awhile, and I have NEVER had to use the Nunchuk, I think you do need it for a few of the games though.

If your controllers ARE synced then when the game is on just push any button and the player indicator lights on the bottom of the controller SHOULD turn on. If not they are not synced. If they do turn on then when you start a board game and it shows the different amount of people you have going to play, indicated by little purple head versus what ever the other picture is. So if you want to play 2 players, pick the picture with 2 purple heads are showing.

Yes, you do need two extra Wii remotes and two extra Nunchuks.

Yes, since you have two brothers, you will need two more controllers. besides the one you have now. :)
