It marked the end of the Byzantine Empire and the beginning of the rise of the Greek Orthodox Church and particularly the Russian Orthodox Church. It marked a period of expansion into Europe by the muslim Turks and the emergence of new allainces and power systems in central and eastern Europe.

Well the fall Constantinople was just the among the many conquests of the Ottoman empire but because Constantinople fell Europe lost an important city along the spice and silk trade routes. It was blocked off from China, India and the Indies itself. Europeans had to sail around Africa and many Europeans thought of sailing to the West to find China and India. A certain Christopher Columbus did and found The New World. The discovery of the New World certainly leads to the formation of America and of the Modern World

Because the Islamic world emerged from the fall of Constantinople. It used to be a great Christian city.

Actually, I don't know. The Turks were in Europe long before. I suppose just because it was the end of something that had been going on for so long.
