It doesn't surprise me, little by little all of our civil liberties will be gone. So what is the kid supposed to draw, a rainbow? The next thing you know he'll be enrolled in a "exodus" class for being gay because he drew a rainbow. Give me a break. It's a known fact that boys watch the action movies and stuff like that. Are you going to suspend a girl for drawing lipstick on the girls that they draw? She could be suspended on grounds of it being "superficial" and that it promotes an "unhealthy body image" and that women are supposed to be glammed up. Give me a break. These people have WAYYYYYYY too much time on their hands. Why aren't they protesting the free healthcare veto? Why aren't they more worried about the programs and supplies that kids need? Oh but little Marky draws a gun, now that's outrageous! Ughhh people drive me insane with the idiocy epidemic these days. Sorry, but there was none of that crap when I was younger. Zero Tolerance...riight. You know, the problem is, these schools are trying to be the parents to these kids because they're afraid that if something goes wrong it's going to be their fault. If parents would say "don't pick on anyone, try to get along" maybe there wouldn't be any bullying let alone a reason for kids to flip out and shoot their bullies in school. Don't blame the board of education! Everyone wants someone to blame and someone to take the fall. It's NEVER their own fault. Denial is a powerful vice. So the kid now has a mark on his permanent record all for this ********. Stuff like this furiates me! Columbine happened and everyone lost their damn minds! Sorry, but bullying still continues!!! DO something about that! A kid who's nice and is treated with respect and isn't picked on won't blow the place up. You know, that's just my theory, but what do I know? Stupid f-cking people I swear!

A second grader being suspended for drawing a picture of a gun. I think I am stuck in a never-ending liberal nightmare. Does Vicks make a Nyquil to save America from this of sickness. I wish they did. I drew pictures of guns, war, weapons, fighting, etc. when I was a kid and I am a law abiding part of our american society and I will fight so that my children can do the same. This sort of government nanny bull s**t is rediculous. The kid drew a picture. Hey libs sometimes a picture is just a picture. That type of zero tolerence policy should be reserved for little gang bangin punks carring weapons in school not creative kids drawing things that libs dont think are acceptable. That is the lib policy though.... they have to lump good kids with bad in order to be equal. We have to have the same consequences for a kid who draws on paper a gun as those who carry a firearm. You liberals have serious mental problems and should seek some professional help!!!!!!!! Leave the young creative artist alone in his imaginary world.

I do agree with some of this. Before we get started Jbertop: you forgot to mention, the boys mother bought him black powder and fake granades he had, could have been and were in the process of being made into the real thing, he had two already, plus, he did have a real assult rifle, so much for the "barbie doll attitude"
I don't agree with this zero tolerance attitude because not all the teachers are going along with it and, when some things are reported, they are not all checking into it, giving it a biased attitude.
A boy hits another on the bus, it's reported to the bus driver, nothing happens, the next day, the boy hits the same kid again, he reports it to his teacher, nothing happens again. The following day the same kid slugs the same kid all over again, he tells his parents who in turn tell the teachers and principal, then call the bus barn and, the supervisor, still nothing happens.
So, finally, the following day, after the parents meet the bus driver and tell him what's going on, they leave. On the way to school, the same kid now slugs the boy yet an umteenth time, the boy finally looses it and knocks the kid on his butt making him cry, the driver sees it and turns him in. The one kid, the one that has been picked on, gets the works dropped on him. All hell breaks loose.
It happen and it will again.
What was the outcome, the principal told the boy being picked on, the next time get the kid off school grounds and off the bus, then give him hell.
What is that teaching him?

Yes it's gone overboard like everything else. Dig this little tidbit...Wolff Blitzer, bless his little pointed head, was anchor on the story about the boy who had built up an arsenal in his bedroom and they claim he was going to shoot up the school. I don't remember all the guns but one was a 9mm hand gun and, I think there was a rifle. And 9 BB guns. Wolff says " how could this happen? a whole arsenal and everyone of them a lethal, deadly weapon." 9 BB guns are deadly weapons? He must have played with Barbie dolls when he was little. That's the left wing ding ding again... anything to promote gun control.

Have the boy claim it's a mechanical "wee-wee". They'll display it on the bulletin board.

It may have been a wise decision. Think of what could have happened: There could have been a picture of a dead person lying on the floor.
