whats the deal with everyone saying it's illegal, it depends where you live, if you like in the UK then its not illegal because the age of consent is 16. However her step dad may have a problem with this because of the 12 year age difference and the fact you are more likely to be more experienced sexually. If you could sit down with both her parents and talk to them about this and help them to understand that you love their daughter and wouldn't force her to do something she is uncomfortable with, or even that you are willing to wait till she feels she is ready, then maybe he might be more accepting. You can just talk like adults (all of you) and find out what his reservations are and discuss them. Help him understand you would never take advantage of their daughter. Even though he isn't her real dad he still cares and wouldn't want to see her get hurt.

Ok I understand that age is only a number and it is different for men and women but I am a 28 year old woman and I would never have a relationship with a 16 yr old. I'm not saying it's wrong but at 16 I was still a child and I was in no way ready to have a relationship let alone with a 28 year old man.

I can understand why her step dad dissaproves. He is trying to protect her and he probably remembers what he was like at 28.

I don't think it is the best idea to carry on if you are causing so many problems but if you love each other who am I to argue?

As a parent myself, I would be very concerned about my 16 year old daughter dating a 28 year old.

Look, this is quite an age difference. 16 year old girls can be quite mature and 28 year old men quite immature, but this 12 year age gap would have any parent concerned. And, as a man, the stepdad knows what a 28 year old man's mind is doing when he looks at a 16 year old girl. He's not working from naive assumptions, perhaps like the mother. He is being protective of his stepdaughter, which is the decent thing for a dad to do.

I'm not trying to diss you. It's good to find people you have interests in common with, and even better if they come in the shape of a young woman that you find attractive.

All I can say to you is, please appreciate that she has not got the emotional bandwith of a woman nearer your age. This may be appealing to you right now, but she will change as she grows up. That is a given.

How about you hold off, particularly in terms of having sex with her (in the UK 16 is legal, for those of you outside this country) so that she doesn't become so emotionally wound up in you.

If this really is love, then a few years of a good non-sexual friendship won't change things. And, if the stepdad can see that you can keep it in your trousers during that time, maybe he will come round.

Hi,

Personally I feel it would be in best interests to walk away from her for now and wait until she a little older. She is with you for the attraction of being with an older guy but the two of you can have nothing in common.

You met on the internet - which just goes to show that the two of you have probably told one another little white lies as most people who are looking for love over the internet adopt a new persona to make people like that.

I am 25 but when I was 13, I had an older guy who showed an interest in me and whom I lost my virginity too. It was so wrong and looking back I regret it so much.

To prove to her step-dad that you love her and can be trusted then step away from her - she is 16. Allow her to continue and focus on her studies and make her own choices as to what she does with her life.

At 16 and 28 - the relationship will fail anyhow, just because the age difference will show problems later on.

I am intrigued to find what you see interesting in this girl? Are you just using her for sex?

Just be a man walk away, be single for a while to sort your head out and then meet someone your own age.

Lx

It is if you are only close friends at this point but in some states you can be put in jail if if becomes sexual. One big problem is that she may be looking for a "father image" at this point and will outgrow that as she gets older so that the relationship will end. I am sure that the step father is concerned because he feels that she is too young to get into a relationship and that you are too old for her and only there for the sex. the best thing to do is to just hang out as friends for a couple of years - you have your whole lives together if this works out for you both - If the stepfather sees that you are just friends at this point he may eventually come around and you might even become friends.

If you are ever a father, you will look back and totally understand why her stepdad has a problem with this relationship. Hopefully, you can step back and respect his viewpoint.

If you two are really meant for each other, you will still be compatible in two years when she is 18 years old. In the meantime, the fact of life is that it is illegal if you are having sex with her. Don't push her stepdad into calling the police. You won't be able to see too much of her from a jail cell.

I wouldn't be happy about it as a dad dude...

In all honesty would you?

Look i'm not telling you what to do or nothing.. But don't you think maybe shes just really chuffed that a man is interested in her rather than really being in love with you...?

If I am wrong I apologise but I think you should tread very carefully and remember how young she is... Don't expect her step dad to be cool with it at least not for a long time. Your best bet is to avoid any conflict with him..

I'm 17 and well...
I think it's an okay relationship unless you guys are physical.
As long as your happy with your relationship together then i think it's perfectly acceptable.
Just try not to do something that could ruin your relationship.
Love is love and that's there has to be in order to never be lonely.
hold onto her tightly and don't let her slip through your fingers or you might end up as lonely as myself! :P :)

I quote, "ITELLIGENT ANSWERS ONLY PLEASE"

I will help you out - this is the correct spelling - intelligent.

You have a lot of spelling errors. I suggest you pick up one of her school books instead of picking up on her.

An adult having a relationship with a child is disgusting. You should be arrested. Find someone your age.

To answer your question, No it is not OK!
