I see what you mean...but I completely disagree with the sexest answering thing. I know *I* personally dont do it and Ive seen more than once ppl chose opposite genders' answers as Best Answers.

Dont generalize.

I dont know if the expressions persuade, but they might make a different. Mine is just as close as I could get to what I look like...that's all.

I think our avatar definitely suggests our character. That's why I prefer not to have one. A lack of one lends anonymity, and perhaps a bit of humility. The avatars all look so cute. I made one and it looks only a trifle of how I looked when I was much younger. Even if it did look like me, I wouldn't want to use it. Most people are smarter than they look. I like to think that is what is true in my case.

I don't think so; at least I have never qualified an answer according to them. I just Q and A not the avatars.

I just want mine to connote serenity and friendliness, with the chance of pulling an asker up short, if the question so warrants.

We can make ourselves and dress ourselves, Its a bit like little girls playing with dollies. I don't think it makes any difference answering questions though.

Our avatar could suggest our character, but I suspect that often it suggests the character of how we would like to be percieved.
