Do you mean involuntary manslaughter? That's when someone dies as a result of negligence (leaving your parking brake off, car squashes someone)

OR where a person is engaging in reckless behavior, that's murder in the second degree unless it's accompanied by an act constituting a felony; the felony murder rule bumps the homicide up to murder in the first degree.

In any case, the first degree murder has the severest penalty, the second degree murder follows, and the involuntary manslaughter is the least. You should look up sentencing guidelines for your state. Prior criminal offenses will make things worse.

Depends on the Jurisdiction. Where I live, it is 1 to 5 years.
