interviews I have to do at Lowe's to get a job? They are building a new store in my town and I have been to 3 interviews, taken a drug test and done a background check.

I wouldn't have first hand information here, but my guess is that if they've already gone to the expense of doing a background check and a drug test then you are already "hired" from the company standpoint. They delay telling you that you have been hired until they get results back though for legal reasons.
