I am afraid that the thing most desired by a compulsive worrier is a compulsive listener. That empowers them. Your only option might be to just say that listening to the worrying is a real downer and not enjoyable, and you would rather not do it anymore

Or you can try the trained listeners method of closing a running conversation. Sincere emphatic use of words such as
good
fine
all right
ok
thank you
things along that line to show that you heard them but it brings their flow to a stop. Then start it up in a new direction. I learned that in a communications course I took once.

Well I think you should not tolerate your friend to think so much of every details about anything that affects heror him... Having a compulsive behavior tends to go to disorder were he or she can't resist of being paranoid of things and blaming her or his self at the end...
Ask him or her to do some yoga, I think it will help your friend to be more relax and optemistic and gradual your friend might eliminate to worry anything...
Goodluck! Hope it works!

Worrying too much is like drinking too much - you aren't going to stop until you hit rock bottom. What do you say? Stop worrying? Something you might want to ask him or her is: what would happen if you stopped worrying? Is worrying going to stop it from happening? Let's face it, everyone worries now and then, but does your friend's worrying interfere with his/her life? If it isn't, stop worrying about it! If it is, it could be a sign of a deeper problem and the person should see someone about it.

Tell her to calm down. I had the same problem and I was worrying about everything, but the family members acted calm when they were in the same situation and I learned to relax. Act calm about everything and she will learn to relax also.
