not at all.
i rather enjoy it actually. not for the reason of getting presents (i could care less if i got anything) but if it wasnt comercialized, what reason would there be for such a MASSIVE celibration of the holiday.
it gives a reason for the big money (businesses) to put up decorations and all that fun stuff. i see it like comercials on tv. just because you have to sit through the comercials... does that mean the show isnt any good?
and i think its a good thing that our economy gets boosted during the holidays. its good for everyone.
people like to blame their own greed on the comercilization of the holidays. i enjoy the time i get to spend with my family, and i enjoy giving them things. we all enjoy things... why is it wrong to enjoy things?
its letting the "things" come before your family and God (if you choose to believe) that is wrong.

I worked in retail for over a decade and I really started to hate Christmas -people were so cranky and inconsiderate.- The returns after Christmas were horrendous, and it all just seemed so ridiculous.
The first Christmas I celebrated, after I quit my job, was one of the best I've ever had. I love the decorations, and I enjoy buying small gifts for my friends and relatives, big gifts for my mother and mother-in-law, and toys for the children.
I buy most of my gifts from arts and crafts shows and my favorite retailers. It makes me happy that I'm supporting local artists, crafters and retailers (especially the small ones.)
I love the time I spend with my family and friends, making cookies, enjoying meals together, picking out and trimming the Christmas tree and going to church services.
I also savor every minute of the most commercial aspect of Christmas: Christmas t.v. programs & movies! What a treat to tune in and find Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown, Jimmy Stewart, Natalie Wood, Scrooge and the Grinch!

Christmas can be as commercialized as you make it. Though gifts are nice, in my family we don't "go over the top" and gifts are just a small part of the Christmas celebration. Remembering that it's Jesus' birthday and participating in other forms of celebration (going to church, giving to a charity, etc.) balances out the commercialization. Most ppl today don't expect a lot of gifts and I have noticed that corporate gift giving is more and more low key. Some nice gifts like chocolates, cookies, etc., but nothing excessively expensive.

Yes, on Christmas we are supposed to celebrate the birth of Jesus but we have gotten so far from that its scary. Now its all about the parties and the gifts, no one remembers that birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ. The words Merry Christmas actually offends people now can you believe that. This country is slipping away from what made us great, God help us!!!

It bothers me b/c it takes the true spirit of the holiday away. It is supposed to be about family and loving one another not about how much crap is under the tree or that one got more than me.

It does bother me. But not enough to let it ruin my holiday. I try not to get carried away with the shopping and I make some of the gifts I give. For me it's about family and friends spending time together and creating memories.

No. Christmas is whatever you make it out to be. If you're going to be bothered by the commercialization, then you'll be so jaded you can't fully enjoy the noncommercial aspects.
