That's interesting.
You can start to see many of the Christian right leaders beginning to line up behind Governor Romney. They clearly dislike and distrust Mayor Giuliani because of his refusal to be controlled by him and the power they could potentially lose in the party if he is nominated.
Romney, it seems has established himself as the main opposition to Giuliani. He lags in national polls but dominates in Iowa and New Hampshire and has run a good campaign and fundraising. Realizing the seriousness of Giuliani's possible nomination they have lined up behind Romney, because they know they can control him, whereas Giuliani has made it clear they cannot.
I think this is horrendous news for Thompson. He was supposed to be the conservative that could pick up the unsatisfied conservative voters who didn't like Giuliani, Romney, or McCain, and swoop in and pick them up. That was the entire purpose of his candidacy. But he entered too late and there seems to be little public confidence in him so I think you'll start to see his numbers drop. Ron Paul actually beat him in the straw poll.
Whats interesting to note is that the article also mentioned that Huckabee trailed Romney by only 30 votes of the 5000+ cast. Don't count Huckabee out of this thing yet. He's climbing in Iowa, obviously making an impact with social conservatives, and unlike Romney, has been consistent and is a Baptist rather than a Mormon. If he had a better fundraising operation and a better chance to catch up with Giuliani I think they would be lining up behind him rather than Romney.
Again thanks for the article this GOP primary is definetley going to be an interesting race to watch.

Is that a statement or a question?
I think that from my common perspective on spirituality, yes, he would be my candidate for upholding Christian values. The others teach the philosophies of men merged around scriptural concepts, having good words but not knowing the reality and power behind those words.
Unfortunately, those same values may be his undoing if only because the majority of our population cannot relate to those values, having abandoned them in their own lives.
Sad commentary on our society.

That’s great news. America can’t get too much religion in the White House. Not after bush.
Mitt’s family must be very proud of him.

Keep reading... He got less than a third of the votes, and barely beat Huckabee. Romney can't win the right-wing evangelical vote because of his Mormonism, his pro-choice background, and his Massachusetts past. They won't be able to see past it, and the conservative vote will splinter. Hillary in '08, whether you like it or not.

Doesn't really matter who the Republicans run.
Hillary is unelectable and couldn't beat a dead neo-Nazi for that job.
