I'm only a high schooler, but i dream of directing films when i'm older. what do you suggest as baby steps and also in the future?

Well every town has a community television station. Go to the station, and ask about opportunities to learn about the film business. Also go to your town's university and see if they offer classes! Just google the community television address.

good advice above. Also work on all the school plays. Read some books on film making. Start looking for a good film school and when you write to them for info, make sure you ask the head of the film school or program if they teach you how to find a job when you graduate, and if they do not, don't go there.

OMG I have that same dream! What I do is I enter my videos into film festivals. Even if you don't think it is that great of a video, You still get to see videos of people who are more experianced in it and they can also give you awesome advice.
