I'm tired of having to guess how many stamps to put on if say Im sending a couple CDs with my letter...2 39 cent stamps? 3? So..just wondering if forever stamps solve this problem entirely. The bums at my post office were too dead beat to give me any info on it. :)
Thanks a lot.

One forever stamp equals 41 cents. But you have a secondary problem. If your package is over 13 ounces, and it obviously is, then you need to take it to the post office to have them put the proper postage on because stamped packages of that size cannot be mailed because of FAA rules. In other words no matter how many stamps you put on it its going to come back to you with a green return sticker so take it to the post office.

I'd take them to the Post Office and make sure. Most all stamps that I know of up to time they started printing the so called Forever Stamp had a denomination printed on them. You had to add penny stamps to make up the balance. I would say just from your description that those stamps are "Forever Stamps" if they have no amount printed on it. The Idea of the Forever Stamp is you pay for it once and DO NOT need to add more stamps after a rate increase. So, even if the price jumps to 50 cents those stamps will still send a 1 ounce letter first class with NO additional stamps. You only need additional postage if there is an amount printed on the stamp or the letter is more than 1 ounce.

The stamp = *one* first class letter up to 1oz. You can't mail a 5lb package for 41 cents

The first class forever stamp is only worth $.41.

well at your post office they should weigh it and put the propper postage on it for you. but 1 forever stamp is only 40c and that is not enough to mail a 5lb package.

I have never seen bums at the post office.

No -- it counts as one first class stamp -- not a specific monetary value towards a larger total postage due.
