Am I the only one left who actually balances her checkbook?

It seems like nobody bothers to balance their checkbook anymore!

No, I sure do, just like you. Have had double charges, and sight indifference's, very rarely.
I balance it to the penny......Once, I forgot to write a check in.
I quess on line banking is good, but I still do not trust it.
So, you are not the only one.......better safe than sorry.

I check my balances nearly everyday on-line, and tabulate my bank balances, investments, debts, cash flows and review my month budget on spreadsheets at the end of the month.

This has been the single greatest thing I have done to aid me in eliminating all but my school debt (which was refinanced a while back at what is now a ridiculously low rate.) Also I've started on-line savings accounts pegged for a new house, a new car, stock purchases, funding a Roth, furniture & electronics, and an emergency fund. As the longer term funds balloon I'll shuffle the balances into mutual fund investments tabbed for the same purpose.

I've really cut down on my "impulse" buying and paid more attention to stocking up at the gorcery store (I must have saved $30 a month on my Diet Pepsi addiction alone by not buying from the convience store near work) because I find myself thinking,".. yeah I could spend a couple bucks on this but then I could put that much more into the new car fund if I didn't. "

I think very few people do so now that you can instantly check you account via online banking. I used to balance my checkbook but now it's just too easy to just go and check online.

I balance the check book every day before we go to bed. I want to make sure we don't spend more than what we have.
