I remember they had a nationwide telephone poll and did on tv. At the end, it was a choice between Abraham Lincoln, Martin Luther King Jr, and Ronald Reagan.

Why did Reagan win?

Here's why I think he won. As a left-wing liberal I have high admiration for Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King Jr Both represented the left-wing of their generation.

So I was split between Lincoln and MLK Jr.

Right-wingers on the other hand (especially southern neo-confederates who HATE Lincoln) had only one choice: Reagan.

So while the left-wing vote was split in two, the right-wing vote had only one real choice.

Worse as president than he was as an actor, and he sucked at that. If he is considered the best the country has to offer the US is in deeper sh!t than even I thought.

The USSR imploded, Reagan had no effect on it what so ever. Grocho Marx could have been on the US throne and it would have still collapsed. In fact he would probably been a better president. At least he would have stayed awake. I will concede that the Republican party, was, at that time more concerned about the US and it's economy and therefore did a better job, but that was the party not Ronnie Ray gun. Too bad, the same cannot be said about the "self-serving" pack of neo-cons backing the present Bozo. Ronnie did invade Grenada and secured the supply of "nutmeg" for the US.

Ho-hum. Everytime libs don't like the outcome....it was a vaaaast right conspiracy. Maybe it was hanging chads? Or just maybe it was because Ronald Reagan was the greatest American president ever. The man loved his country deeply. I admire Lincoln and MLK, but Ronnie RoCkEd!

The polling was done rather shortly after President Reagan's death so that likely had a significant influence on the results.

Hah. Same excuse you people used when Bush won the election from Gore. Whenever it doesn't go your way just accuse your opponents of "rigging" the results.

You just can't handle the truth.
