1/2*h(B+b)=A
h(B+b)=2A[multiplying both sides by 2]
B+b=2A/h[dividing both sides by h]
b=(2A/h) -B[subtracting B from both sides]

If b and B are the same thing, then:
A/(1/2h)/2 = B or A divided by 1/2h divided by 2 is B
I'm too lazy to do it with b and B being different...

A = 1/2h(B+b)
Distribute ~ A = 1/2hB+1/2hb
Divide by 1/2h ~ A/(1/2h) = B+b
Subtract B ~ A/(1/2h)-B = b

A=1/2h(B+b)
A(2)=2(1/2)h(B+b)
A(2)/h=h(B+b)/h
A(2)-B/h=B-B+b/h
(A(2)-B)/h=b

Just use simple algebra, however it's not clear what your original formula is.
Is it... A = 1/2h x (B+b) or A = 1/2 h / (B+b)

While there are short cuts, it is best to first eliminate fractions from an equation before trying to solve. Be sure to note that the formula should be written as
A = (1/2)h(B+b) so multiply through by 2 to get
2A = h(B+b) Now distribute the h to get
2A = Bh +bh. Since you want b, subtract Bh to get
2A -Bh = bh and finally divide both sides by h to get
(2A-Bh)/h = b.
This answer can also be written as
b = (2A-Bh)/h = 2A/h - B
The first form is preferable since it is just one term.

1 A= !/2hB + 1/2hb (distribute)
2 A-1/2hB=1/2hb (subtract from both sides)
3 (A-1/2hB)/(1/2h)=b (divide both sides by 1/2h)
so b=(A-1/2hB)/(1/2h)
you can simplify more, but it's unneccessary.

I assume you mean A = (1/2)*h*(B+b) and not A = 1/(2*h*(B+b))
b = 2*A/h-B

Solving for b
A = 0.5h(B+b)
multiply by 2 both sides
2A = B + b
solving for b
b = 2A-B
and that's how is done
