Why do most schools require geometry before algebra 2?(i know this is in the wrong section)?

i don't know... my school required me to take algebra 2 first though, i guess everywhere is different though.

Sometimes Algebra II is integrated with trigonometry. My school did that, and it was highly beneficial to do geometry beforehand. Now that I remember, it was really an intro-like course to the trig parts of Algebra II, and it really helped me later as I was trying to learn the trig, so that's why many schools do that so they don't have to offer a separate trig course.

Because the students need a break between algebra 1 and 2. Geometery is fun.

I don't suppose it would make you feel better if I told you that I didn't take algebra, algebra two, or geometry and have never needed them in my 30 years. However, when my child(ren) need help with math homework, I'll be in trouble. Also, my father, who has a master's degree, has never used them much in real life except to help my siblings and me with our homework.

I think some of the concepts and applications of Algebra II problems have to do with geometry.

I know what you mean---I hated geometry and I would have skipped it if I could!
