The goal was OIL and WAR PROFITEERING.
That's why Bush's number one non-military 'benchmark' wants the Iraqi Parliament to surrender two-thirds of its OIL fields to foreign, private OIL corporations, which would allow companies like Exxon-Mobil and others to literally STEAL all of Iraq's OIL, the nation's most valuable economic resource. -RKO- 10/20/07

we went to war because of the 9/11 Bush couldn't stand it and started attacking the Iraqis and our goals are oil

Money for Dick and George. Also, I think there is a long awaited revenge aspect in it, they saw an opportunity and pounced.
