Like everyone else is saying if its a laptop small chance it will survive. Desktop it will most likely survive. Also there is a better chance for both if they were OFF. If they were on you might have shorted some circuit.

My girlfriend accidental spilled a coke into a PC I had on my desk with the side off while it was on. Yeah the breakers blew in my house has my Chip set sent up a poof of smoke and literally cracked in half. BAD IDEA Luckily I was just setting it up as a storage server and my hard drivers were not burned out .

Most people have spilled something on a keyboard for a desktop, but if its a laptop, special care needs to be taken. There are cover sold to protect keyboards from spillage on the net for either desktops or laptops if you must have a liquid close by, while your working.

If it didn't smoke or actually quit working before you got the power cut to it, you probably have nothing to worry about, however, if something did short out before you disconnected the power you may be in trouble. It may only have certain components damaged and may still be salvagable for a reasonable price. Good Luck.

No, depends where you spilled it, if it didn't hit the hard drive your might have your data but then the circuitry screws up with liquid everything is fried or ruined.
