Sounds like it's pretty much a toss up according to the article. It's one of those things - that unless you're involved in the conflict, you don't know what it's like. On either side.

BTW - torture has been going on for decades, in EVERY war. It's not anything new under Bush.

My solution:

Torture and lie about it.

We can't admit to torture because it allows our POW's to be tortured.

But lets face it, torture works. A friend of mine who served in Viet Nam said they would throw enemy soldiers out of helicopters to get their fellow enemy soldiers to talk.

It worked. They got the info every time.

Basic international law -- once the US abandoned the Geneva Conventions and condoned torture and indefinite imprisonment, we lost any claim to object if our own soldier were similar tortured or held.

And the justification is even more troubling -- because the people we hate and revile use these tactics -- we should sink to their level?

I can only imagine how they must feel.. this is a powerful piece, everyone should read it.

And it is why Bush has demeaned this country by resorting to this same thing and worse.. I am so ashamed that the U.S. gave in to torture tactics.. we are only making ourselves into the kind of monster we say we are fighting.

in this instance Bush is no better than Saddam!

POWs like John McCain are against it.

It suprises me how so many "christian" conservatives are for it.

Their logic is well the terrorists do it, why not us.

Their only struggle is to make headlines.

Their sacrifices count for NOTHING as soon as they become a press tool to undermine the Presidnet or put American Soldiers at risk.

TELL ME - WHAT TROTURE?

WHO?

WHEN?

BY WHOM?

WHAT TECHNIQUE, SPECIFICALLY?

You don't know, neither does anyone else.

Didn't happen.

Liar.

we defeated the Nazis and the cold war without torture , why does Cheney feel he has to "go to the dark side" ( his words)?
