No I did not drink, as my dad was an alcoholic, and I wanted none of that.
Weed came later when I was in my early 20's, but I outgrew that after only a year or two.
I did smoke regular cigarettes when I was a Senior in High School, we would all run up to the Soda Joint after school and have a cigarette, or cut class for gym, which was up the street in a Park gym, we hardly ever dressed for gym, but hung out in the locker and smoked instead.

Here's a little lesson. The senior citizens in this section refer to people over 65, not the last year in high school. However, I was in high school a long time ago, but the biggest temptation was beer. I really feel for the younger people today. There are so many more temptations to contend with.
I applaud you for getting your high from life. That will get you to being a senior citizen in much better health. Good luck with the rest of your life.

Smoking - yes. In fact that is where I learned how to smoke - unfortunately and now am paying the price for this nasty habit which I still enjoy.
Drugs were unheard of [except in the movie, Man With a Golden Arm!]--marijuana hit my college campus a year or so after I left in the early 60's...thankfully that is a habit I never adopted.
Never felt pressure to drink...spent most of my formative years in Europe where drinking wasn't something you aspired to do...you just did...a little wine with dinner. The drinking thingie came later when I began working and socializing with the 'martini for lunch bunch'!

I was 15 in 1955 so my teen years were spent in the sexually repressed 1950's. Even worse, I was raised in a small town in Southern Oregon surrounded by mountains. Everybody knew everybody.
Our biggest "sin" was obtaining a case of Lucky Lager or Olympia beer to be shared by "our gang" of 8 kids. We hung out in packs without any real "pairing off".
Nobody I know ever SAW weed. We were all shown that ridiculous movie "Reefer Madness" and all half believed it. But, marijuana was not an issue and never knew anyone who had ever smoked it.
Once in a while, some "older" guy would buy a pint of Seagrams 7 - and boy, didn't we feel like grownups slugging that back out of the bottle. Of course, with 8 or 10 kids, it didn't go far. Just enough to make us feel "adult"....HA!!
We all knew that we could be caught at any moment. All the cops in town knew everybody - most by first name, knew your parents, knew your teachers. And..just about every adult knew who you were and who your parents were. That's a big incentive to behave.
I did, however, discover weed in my 30's. I smoked socially for about 10 years or so but decided that it was too expensive and I like to be in control of ALL my faculties. So that went away before I was 42-43.
I still enjoy a good single malt scotch on the rocks, really, really good vodka, a cold Margarita if I'm in or near Mexico and a cold Sam Adams with my Bar-b-q ribs but, only occasionally. Booze has a tendency to put me to sleep -- HA!

I didn't hear about any drugs except heroin when I was in high school and heroin was on talked about as being a problem in NYC.
I found out later weed grew like a weed in Kansas when my ex was in the Army so he smoked it in the early 50s.

No, things were a lot different when I went to school. Never even heard of weed, and drinking alcohol was something you might do when you turned 21. Laws were actually enforced in those days.

Not me. I was working full time and going to school. I would get hammered on beer and diet pills when it was a holiday. Never liked weed. Personally peer pressure never bothered me, I'd just tell them no, and if they persisted I'd tell them to get the f outta my face.

I was a teen in the early 60s. My friends and I smoked cig. and drank. We thought we were so "adult." I didn't even like the taste of beer or liquor and quit when I was about twenty-five. Unfortunately I still smoke after forty-seven years. Now I am about a three cocktail a year drinker.
I never tried any kind of drugs. I was scared of them and still am. To dangerous for me. I was a pretty stupid teenager, but not that stupid!!!

I was in high school BEFORE THERE
WAS even weed, or "street" drugs.
I was in a small Ill. town but we never
heard of such things.
the only problems we could have was
drinking hootch, or smoking roll-you-owns.
Guess what? that was even back
before TV was even invented.

I was very lucky to go to highschool before the drug scene started. The kids that smoked didn't do it at school or on school property and I didn't know or associate with anyone that drank alcohol.
