It means just as it says, that it did not pass the windows logo testing.

This usually means that either the driver you have is not the exact driver for the device but it could work with the chipset of the device. All you have to do to try it, is click on "Continue". It should work, but sometimes it doesn't.

But the best thing to do is go to the manufacturer website of the integrated motherboard or the sound card and download the specific driver. It would be found in their support or download section.

But if you are unable to find it on the site or cannot find it on the internet, then you can check http://driverguide.com and sign up for an account, search for you driver and download the driver that recommended by DriverGuide.

I have used DriverGuide many times and it comes in very handy since they seem to have quite a good driver base and also, if you have a driver that they do not have, you can contribute your driver to the database.

Hope that this helps.

Obviously there is a problem with your driver vs XP. Don't worry about the windows certification thing, the mfr pays to be on Micro$ofts list, and if they don't, they aren't "certified". Ignore it.
You could start troubleshooting from where it stopped working or what might have caused it. But it might just be easier to just get the remedy done.
If you have just done anything with the hardware at all, first go to your bios and find the PNP setting and set it so that it will reshuffle your resources. Then try rebooting and see if that helped.
If that doesnt work, hit F8 repeatedly when windows is booting, that will take you to a startup menu where you can choose safe mode. After it boots into safe mode, reboot again into windows and see if the re-allocated resources made it work.
The next thing to try is:
Right click on my computer, properties, then go to the hardware tab. If any drivers have an exclaimation ! on them, they are problems. Right click on the problem driver, and update drivers. It will ask for a cd, put in your motherboard manufacturers original cd. You may have to find the xp directory under sound drivers.
Note that with drivers, newer is not always better. Its best to go back to the driver the manufacturer supplied with the motherboard.
Well it sounds worse than it is to do, I hope it helps.

Nothing is wrong with your computer. Some programs are'nt verified by Microsoft but that doesnt mean the program will harm ur computer. If u trust the maker of the program, then go ahead & finish installing it.

Like smokin says if oyure no longer showing your sound interior the device supervisor it relatively is disabled on your bios because of the fact hardware disabled interior the bios dont look interior the device supervisor. if your drivers went bye-bye it could look on your device supervisor below something else thou which contain "unknown" in case you do desire drivers on your AC97 you will could desire to the workstation or motherboatd'd internet site and get the AC97 drivers on your kind. in assessment to video playing cards which use Nvidia or ATI drivers for any kind playing cards that run them AC97 onboard sound chips oftentimes run proprietory firmware and accepted drivers oftentimes wont wont with them.
