1-2 chains = 1 button 3-4 chains = 2 buttons more than 4 = three buttons Never more than three buttons, Joey. Unless you're on a beach, in which case the shirt should be completely unbottoned.

Oh lordy-me...remember the little gold peppers that hung on at least one of those chains? Ba-da-bing time for sure. Remember the white patent-leather loafers, belt to match and the maroon shirt unbuttoned...extra points for chest hair so the li'l peppers would have kind of a mattress to nestle in. We later called this look the "Full Cleveland".

I'll answer for my hubby. Yes he did. During the 70's and
later. He wore his shirts open and opened about two or three buttons down. Sleeves were cuffed and rolled neatly to mid arm also.
He wore bell bottoms and had his hair really cool and
wore the big shades as well. He was slim and trim and
was really one to draw other husbands wives back then. I sure
had to watch them LOL. As a few got too carried away.

Not me. When I worked in Los Angeles for a major chemical company, one of our top salesmen would go bare chested with an open shirt and sport coat, all kinds of gold chains. He thought he was God's gift to everyone.

Never. I HAVE wondered why when women wear a blouse/dress open 'down to here' it's considered sexy or fashionable, but when a guy opens the second button on a shirt, people say "WHAT'S HE TRYING TO PROVE?" and laugh at him for doing it.

In the 80's in South Africa, that was "in", all the men were tanned, opened their shirts, and wore chains around their neck. Actually, I thought it looked quite sexy. Oh dear!!
