Buying Steam Games as a Gift?

I want to send a friend Counter Strike Source but if I buy it online will I be able to send it to them? If so what are the steps? I started to buy it but it asks for my payment info before it asks for teh steam account it'll go to. This is my first time buying a game online. Thanks.

Contact the company and see if they have a coupon arrangment where you can pay for it, and they get a coupon code they can use online to download it to their machine
