I think it depends on the song. Most the times remixes are just the same song with someone adding parts into it. I hate those. If you're going to remix a song. You should make the song all the way over.

Original for the most songs I listen to but I sure wouldn't mind remixes for any rock song like a cover of the following classic rocks, and the artists who would cover them or who did.
1. Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top covered by Nickelback
2. Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne covered by Rob Zombie
3. Epic by Faith No More covered by Godsmack
4. Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith covered by 311
5. Rock N Roll All Night by Kiss covered by The Wallflowers

Usually originals are the best. However I've heard some pretty good remixes. For example "BAM BAM" by Toots and the Maytals remixed with Shaggy

Oldies+R&B originals most of the time.
Other than that depends on if I know the words or not. It can get confusing when yur singing the song.
If i'm hanging out. I have to vote for the remix version. On most occasions.

I usually prefer originals, but, sometimes the remix is better (like Wham's "Everything She Wants", and Toni Braxton's "Seven Whole Days"). The originals are usually better structured, better arranged.
