In the darkness is our fears, rejections & disappointments. I think the reason why we run away from looking in the dark because we are afraid to see reality & lack of confidence in ourself.

In japan, there are temples with underground of dark long alley. It is very , very dark. and there is this something that when you touches it, gives you good luck. Lots of people who gone underground were not able to touch this "something" maybe because they are so afraid that they wanted to get out of the darkness immediately. Others, are afraid of what they may touch maybe(, I am one of them). Few people were able to touch that "something", maybe because they have self-confidence . Maybe because they are not afraid to face reality.

What is truth? How do you really know what is stated is true is really true. All we have are our perceptions of things, none of which are 100% accurate. If you have 5 people in a room you will have 6 different versions of what happened because everyone's perceptions are different. Before you can ask what makes us reject truth, you must first define what truth really means.
I am afraid of the dark mostly because I am not sure what to expect. I think it also may have something to with being abused when I was a child. You fear what you can't see, just as you fear the unknown. Death is one of those things people typically fear because they don't know where they go or what happens althought there are theories mostly based on religious beliefs. Also, if you are in a pitch dark area with no light there is no looking around because you can't see anything anyway so what would be the point in wanting to look in the dark when you know you can't see. It would not be something I would be interested in looking at.

We are genetically programmed to survive [ a carryover from our pre-human evolution] and so we naturally flee from the unknown; "The Dark". This is a shame because perfection can only be achieved in the quiet truth of absolute void; nonexistence. Everything outside of that is fraught with error and suffering.

There is no light in the dark, so we run away from lies, either By avoiding or just leaving it to be there, berried, maybe(hopefully) dead in the dark.

All of the fears which inhabit the dark recesses of the mind? The search for truth is overrated. Also, it is impossible. Truth really is subjective, therefore it is impossible to reject what you never knew or that which doesn't exist.

when we experience darkness, darkness blinds our eyes, make us unable to see what's before us. it is the sense of hopeless and uncontrollability that frighten us.
we do not want to reject the true, it is the emotion that impacts in that true that we want to reject. we want to feel as comfortable as possible, it is nature instinct that we will try our best to avoid getting hurt.

Mostly the fear that we might not like it. They say ignorance is bliss, and ignorance of a painful truth will for many be preferable to the truth itself. Subjectivism at its worst: If I don't know it, it doesn't exist and can't hurt me.
Though luckily there are many who regard ignorance as even more painful then the truth itself. At least then you know where you stand.
