There is a melody in Pet Shop Boys song "Its a sin" that sounds alot like a melody in "Wild World" by Cat Stevens. I have noticed that a few other songs have similiar melodies and I'm just wondering if anyone else out there can hear what I hear in music. I guess you have to be musically inclined to catch the similarities. I realize that music can be original to a point and then there is no way to avoid copying other songs in melody. It just seems to be more obvious to me sometimes when most everyone I know doesn't hear it.

George Harrison was sued for plagiarism for his song "My Sweet Lord". Many people thought it was the same as The Chiffon's "He's So Fine". I agree there are similarities but I've heard other songs that sound even more alike such Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and Boston's "More Than A Feeling".

There's sampling where an artist takes a melody, beat, or chorus from another song.

And then sometimes, there are those things where it would seem like an artist is ripping another artist off and claiming that they never heard the other artist their entire lives.

New Order's - Someone Like you

New London Fire - Someone Like You
