There are a couple of hundred periodic comets that come around regularly, but except for Halley, none of them are naked eye objects. Bright comets get perturbed out of the Oort cloud and spend a couple of thousand years falling towards the Sun. There's no predicting when the next one will show up, though the big ones usually get picked up two or three years out. But many bright comets are not that big, and are bright only because they pass close to the Earth or Sun. You just have to watch the science news (space.com, skyandtelescope.com, etc.) for information.
For telescopic comets, this is a good source: http://www.cometchasing.skyhound.com/

i do believe in the year 2039 a coment is going to hit earth.
A large asteroid could miss the Earth by only 38,000 kilometres in 2027, according to new astronomical observations. This is an extremely close shave - the Moon orbits 10 times further from Earth.
The calculations suggest that an impact is not possible that year but, in theory, the Earth's gravity could perturb the asteroid's path, possibly leading to an impact in 2039.
