i find liberals when debating espically the farther left you go...tend to be very demening and sarcastic. and often times attack the person not the argument, does anyone else see it this way. of course i consider myself a conservative so maybe i see it differently than a liberal...if your a liberal and you feel conservatives do the same thing, or are tired of being called "unamerican" let me know what yall think out there...

There are some questions that deserve only a sarcastic response. In terms of "attacking the person and not the argument," when the "argument" is some illiterate imbecile posting a question like, "Wy duz Hillery Clinton have sex with smal animals?" then it's not worthy of being taken seriously. Do you expect we'll really bother to offer a counter argument and point out that Hillary Clinton probably does not like to have sex with small animals? No. The correct response to that "argument" is..."Put the gerbil down and go to bed."

I don't think you can characterize it either way. Both sides enjoy making the straw-person arguments. Look at Rush Limbaugh, Michael Savage, Bill O'Reilly... they threaten and yell at people all the time. I get put down a lot for supporting the moral decline of our society (which I don't see as a decline). Having taken a logic class, I don't use that fallacy. I am a progressive, but I go on my beliefs, not another person's faults.
Check out Barack Obama! He hasn't done much character-assassination... some people say he hasn't done enough of it.

I find that conservatives just make up stories or parrot the talking points fed to them by the lunatic right-wing fringe propaganda mill. Conservatives are unable to distinguish between reality and their own BS.
