No -- Yahoo is not a govt agency -- they are not constitutionally required to allow everyone free speech.
As a private forum -- and a free one -- they can do anything they want.

Yahoo IS the law. Haven't you ever read their open-ended community guidelines? Besides, this IS A VOLUNTARY SITE! I'm betting that the main reason for changing their security policy had something to do with the simple fact that they (the powers that be) were given an ultimatum that didn't look good for their marketing strategies & future earnings. Perhaps some government funding was going to disappear if they didn't "play along"??? Buk could attempt a lawsuit, but I really doubt that he/she would be able to get a ruling in their favor. It would be interesting to see the results if they did decide to take Yahoo into a court battle. I guess only time will tell until someone finally figures out another way to beat the system...this system, perhaps? That's my take on the issue. It appears that both sides (users & owners) may be guilty of abuse from time to time. It's only a website & should not be taken seriously unless a person is paying for a personal forum & advertisements to get their point or product out to the masses!

No freedom of speech here.
This is not a public forum, no 1st amendment rights.
Yahoo does not filter or censor speech.
They have a formula by which, if enough people report an comment, it's removed.
They don't look, they don't care.
There is a "coalition" of people on this board that "gang up" on comments that they disagree with and they use Yahoo like a cheap trick to remove them.
Same theater as in Congress.
Don't expect anything but a quick trial and secret funeral.

Rants are covered under the provisions of posting on Yahoo Answers. If someone does not feel the rules are fair, don't post. If you want to post illegal/prohibited things, you take the chance that they will be deleted and with continuing offenses, be banned from Yahoo services. It is not only Yahoo who decides what gets deleted, it is the members who hit the Report button.

No. This is the kind of uninformed rant you see a thousand times on message boards. Unless there is government involvement, there is no guaranty of protection under the Constitution. The Constitution says the STATE (Federal and/or State Governements) must afford the gurantees of the Constitution.
May not be popular, but thats the way it is.

If someone posts something on yahoo, then they are totaling within the law (not to mention reason) to delete it. Remember, yahoo is a private organization, and is allowed to act as such.

Maybe you forgot your agreement with Yahoo before you can have access here. Kindly review the Yahoo agreement and try to see if Yahoo violated any law.

You have the right to free expression. You do not have the right to be heard. Anyone can stand on the street corner and yell their opinion. But YA is a company who can do business with whomever they choose...or they can choose not to.
