@musicalone8123: I find it to be unfortunate because I wish more people would be accepting of themselves. If more people were accepting of themselves, we would live in a less homophobic world.

Good question. I would have to agree with you, there are definitely more people IN the closet. Especially in countries that are not tolerant of homosexuality! Like in the Middle East or something where they can be killed. I think when the the whole world becomes more accepting of homosexuality and it's not an issue, then way more people would be willing to come out.

I agree that the majority are 'In'. I got involved with my local LGBTQ community a number of years ago and belong to a national association of former veterans, most of which served while living in the closet.

Today the statistics say that there are over 60,000 LGBTQ serving on Active duty even under the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" Policy, in silence.

I guess I am in the minority that have come out of their closet and speak my mind.

I'm in the closet but i feel myself slowly opening the door a little more each day. I am going to agree with you that more of the the population is in the closet. Hopefully one day that will change but right now that's just how it is.

Far more people in the closet, especially in the 30 and older crowd.

I used to shake my head how many married men would stop by my favorite gay bar for a drink (and a chance for a quickie)after work before going home to their wives.

Most are in, I'd say.
I think everybody should come out, as it was the best decision of my life...
but I know the reasons that people stay in the closet.

You do stay in the closet until you are ready to come out, I know. It is a journey.
Each person must make the decision themselves...

I will just not have a partner who is in.

The answer has got to be "IN the closet"

Because there are guys and girls who are in different societies who have to hide it, otherwise they could be ridiculed, humiliated, and ostracized. Its a sad thing that in some cultures homosexuals are killed. That would definitely keep me in the closet.
Some people nowadays are gay and in the "In Social group" and they don't come out because they could get shunned from their straight guy/girl friends.

I think there's more people IN the closet than OUT, i think it's b cuz they might fear what their friends n family might think. I would, i mean i'm not either gay or bi, im just curios. But i think i would NEVER tell anyone, not even my best friend!, at first is always ur my bro/sista 4 ever and when u tell em they start to back away. At least thats what I think.

More people are in the closet, but I don't know why GLBTs insist that's unfortunate or aren't more understanding about why that's the case. All in due time for each person.

i would say that there are definately more people IN the closet, i think this because people can be so homophobic and hurtful that people feel that they cant come out of the closet.

Really, I can't believe that (That there are more in the closet). There are so many even in my small city. And even teenagers are openly gay now. I can't imagine any problem with being out today. But then, I live in a blue state.
