Yes, Marty could be a great coach for ND.

I think ND will not come back any time soon. They'll probably keep blubber boy another year, and that will hurt recruiting. They won't be going to a bowl game, so why should a kid want to go there? When they finally hire a good coach, he'll have a hard job of rebuilding.

How about hiring Ty back?

Come on guys--give Charlie a chance! He is developing a young team and I don't think that there are many people who could develop a team like this over night!

I don't think Charlie is the only problem. I think he made a poor decision in choosing Ron Pawlus as his QB coach (the kid only ran backwards when he was there, and wow--what does Claussen do every time he has the ball?). I also think that Charlie played only the seniors last year, and didn't give the current players enough playing time. In addition, you have our "superstar" Claussen who has done nothing, and you have Zibby who only came back in the hopes that he would go first or second round (tough chance since he does NOTHING this year). You have very few players who are playing with heart this year--Trevor Laws being the only consistent player. I don't think any coach can fix this problem--it is something inside the team. If you watched today, when USC scored their last touchdown, they panned to the ND bench where the players were laughing and joking around with each other. That is not what a true "team" would be doing.

At this point, I don't even think Lou or Ara could help these guys. They don't have the heart this season and have already given up.......

It's not too often that a pro coach can step down to college and be successful. Charlie Weis is exhibit A. What Notre Dame needs is someone who know college football and is able to deal with the expectations of Notre Dame. Joker Phillips comes to mind. He did coach at Notre Dame this decade. He is a up and comer. But Notre Dame has Weis under contract for 10 years and the buyout on that is HUGH!!!

There problem isn't coaching because weiss is an offensive guru, but it is recruiting. Notre Dame for years used to battle schools like Michigan, Ohio State FLorida and other big time schools for recruits now they are competeing with teams like Purdue, Syracuse, and other ok but nothing special schools for recruits. They are not getting the players they used to get. Jimmy Clausen is the exception.

Notre Dame needs a coach who can relate to college players...not someone who is used to pros...Also, someone who could handle the academic standards of ND, and recruit accordingly...ND might want to talk to the AD at Cal about the coach...

Marty is okay, but Bill Parcells would be better, and you know, Don Shula would be better still, or they could do a Weekend at Bernie's deal with Vince Lombardi.

LOL....he's not coming to that debacle in an attempt to clean up that mess. Try finding Lombardi, Bryant or recruiting Paterno to come and coach there. That place is way past M. Schottenhummer!

Is Marty gonna play? these guys that they have are not that good. they are very young and inexperienced. Marty couldn't win with this team either.

Doesn't matter who the coach is, Notre Dame is gonna suck for a long time coming.

Same coach. So that hasn't changed. Inexperienced players.....thats the change. I don't see jumping all over the coach when he does not have the talent to work with....and he has been a fine coach up to this point.
Blah.......I am a Michigan fan and that was hard for me to key.......LOL.
