There is a rare mental condition which makes people believe it's fun, it's only being realized by scientists now.

People play baseball to be competitive. Baseball is both a mental AND a physical sport. It is also a team sport that has a high percentage of individual player action. Also the rules of baseball are less than complex. It's also something that father's have been passing down to their sons for over 100 years. Tradition seems to have a large hand in all of the sports that we do and don't play.

Because baseball is the hardest sport that there is to play and there is something immensely satisfying that happens when you finally develop enough skill to play the game badly.
Baseball is also the most humbling sport of all . When a player really screws up in baseball there is no tangle of bodies to hide the mistake in.The mistake is out there is the open for all to see.
Spend an afternoon shagging fly balls with a bunch of people, and see if you change your mind about baseball

Sure, I see your point. Back at you: why do people watch movies? Listen to music? Play any other sport? Eat in restaurants? Seek ANY kind of pleasure?

We all do. For some, it's the playing of baseball. Or following it. Or watching it. Maybe you like tennis. BORING! Maybe you like TV. YUCK! But, see, I used to play it all the time. It was fun. Now I follow it and watch it. More fun. And you do the stuff you do.

its Americas oldest game. The game is fun to play not fun to watch, but it is a game where there is no height discrimination, since pitching zones are adjusted for each player. It is one of the few games where this happens. Also it is fun to play cause it requires quick reflexes, strategy, limited strength to throw a ball. Play it sometime and you'll see.

Baseball is America's past time. It has been around longer than most sports! It is the best and most fun sport around, and it is probably the most challenging sport as well.
