i have some friends that smoke pot in the car all the time and i was wondering if this was stupid of them? i know its illegal and all, but they way they use it is fine. They are both smart girls, and they never get in trouble. so would smoking pot while driving be stupid if they drive carefully?
what would you do if you saw some one smoking?
is that an obvious thing when you drive by a car if they're smoking or not?
and dont waste your time telling me that pot is illegal. and dont tell me that they're sooo stupid for doing it while driving. They wouldnt have to drive around if pot was legal. So please no negative comments. it will just be a waste of ur time.

see i have this problem with illegal substances that one good whiff of could kill me. I have a severe reaction to it my lungs and heart do this thing called STOPPING I have been in the hospital several time because of it.

Pot as a pain relief or to unwind fair enough. But I never indulge and do not allow it in my house. If I was in a car and the driver lit a spliff I would ask him to put it out (not that anyone could now as I have to have oxygen with me all the time), or let me out. You see pot does slow down reaction times and that could be dangerous. I don't know about other countries but I think it may be illegal in UK.
Dear with all due respect you cannot ask this sort of question and expect people not to say if a thing is illegal and the girls are a bit stupid for driving when smoking it - these are facts. As for no negative comments why are you wasting time asking a question to which I presume you want honest answers, then saying no negative answers? How do you expect us all to respond, by saying yes its fine, yes, tell them go ahead, for goodness sake when honestly we don't all agree with you? I've smoked pot too - so I am not anti-smoking. However, I think it is wrong to smoke and drive. Lets face it, after a joint or two your reflexes are nowhere near what they should be to drive. If the police catch her she'll be in BIG trouble for driving under the influence and what if she has an accident (not saying it would even be her fault - just look at the amount of dickheads on the road) She could kill.maim herself and/or others and have to live with that on her conscience forever. If theres nowhere else to go then park up and smoke near her house - dont drive round putting herself and others at risk.
And to all those who say 'I drive better when stoned' believe me you DONT. I've driven with people stoned who think they are flying along - they are doing 25mph !! They also take silly risks and misjudge distances !!

it is considered dangerous because it affects you motor senses, if your friends are really high then they would not be able to react in time for example if a dog ran out in the street. If you are under the influence you should not be driving because you will react slower than everyone else, and it could result in you either crashing or not being able to avoid a crash. Now smoking pot is not really that bad, and most people that smoke pot are not a huge danger on the road because they tend to drive rather slow, still none the less it is not safe, which is why is agaisnt the law.

i smoke all the time when im driving. been doing it for almost 34 years, and have no moving violations on my driving record.as for how safe it is to smoke and drive, not sure about last few years, but in 2001, there were only 3 marijuana related traffic deaths in the entire country.as for can you tell if someone is toking in the next car, not unless their being stupid about it, like smoking out of a pipe or something. ive sat beside police cruisers in traffic smoking a blunt and never even get a second look.

No I havent. I have friends that smoke pot on the regular and the wouldnt dare drive smoking it, because if the police pull you over, then it is over if you catch my drift, because it is a felony and they could be fined thousands of dollars and serve years in jail. I even know some drug dealers that will tell you not to do it.

A few years ago there was a clip on tv where an OPP Cop showed footage of a traffic stop. Apparently he filmed a man smoking and filmed him pulling him over and the man thought he had been pulled over for speeding when in fact he had been pulled over for doing 25 km / hr on a 100 km Highway!! I have to say it was concrete evidence that your judgement is severely impaired so I think you should tell your friends to figure something else out-this certainly is not a smart move.

Well, the fact that they are harming their bodies like that doesn't make them smart, but that's neither here nor there. I have seen people smoking pot in their cars. Smoking pot while driving is stupid...doing anything while driving is pretty much stupid. I know people can multi-task, but it doesn't mean that they should.

if I see someone driving and smoking I would call the police and pass the license tag so they can track it down.
I had that problem before, the deal is that when cars pass next to mine I smell the strong order of pot but I cant figure out from what car is coming, if I did, I would do what I said before.
even if they drive carefully, if a cop drives by and they are not causing any infractions they can still be caught by the smell, cops are not stupid ya know.

First of all yes it is dumb but it reminds me of a story in my college days.
My friends and I were out drinking quite heavily and rather than drive home drunk we hitched a ride with a local delivery guy(randomly) who happened to be delivering food to the frat house we were at. Well we start driving and the delivery guy pulls out a giant bowl, and him and my friend in the front start smoking up a storm while me and my other friend in back were scared shitless.

Yes I seen many people smoke pot while driving!!
The ones I seen seems to have been in slow motion!!
It mellows them out and there reaction is just slower.
My ex husband use to do this all the time and to be honest this when he drives his best.
