What are the most representative Christmas traditions in the United states. (Food, ceremonies, family meetings, customs, etc.)

So many: The nativity; decorated trees, wreaths and boughs; ornaments; Santa, of course, and reindeer; decorated cookies; cranberries; candy canes; so many more.
Most churches have a Christmas pageant, usually involving the children. They have special music and concerts. Many people attend church on Christmas Eve, then open their gifts, have breakfast, and go to bed. Others wake early Christmas morning to find that Santa has come, then open gifts. Extended families often get together Christmas Eve or later in the day on Christmas.
An old American tradition is Christmas carolling, in which a group of people go door-to-door singing Christmas carols.
And, of course, charity is in high swing at Christmas, when a lot of giving is going on in many forms. Charity groups have special meals and parties; and families "adopt a family", buying gifts and a big Christmas meal for a needy family.

At Christmas I would say some things are: Having Christmas Trees. Writing a wish list to "Santa Claus". Having a big meal in the middle of the afternoon with ham or turkey.

A popular tradition is getting together with family members and making batches of Christmas cookies. A lot of people, mostly women, get together for Christmas cookie swaps, where each woman brings several dozen cookies of one kind. Then there's a trade-off of one dozen cookies to each participant. When you leave you have the same amount of cookies that you came with, but now they're all different kinds!

the most would have to be the xmas tree w/presents, santa claus,candy canes,stockings,elves, and reindeer.
