I think it proved that they are beatable. No they didn't lost but they won by 7 points to an unranked mediocre Michigan State team. Yes they are a little overated but not overated enough for me to call BCS and give em a piece of my mind.

Why the hell is everyone mentioning Michigan. Yeah we were overated. yeah we lost 2 games. Yeah we lost to App State. But that wasn't part of the question.

I think the mistakes OSU made were a bit uncharacteristic for them. People thought they had a chance to be upset today and that maybe MSU could come back and upset them after OSU made those mistakes. I never thought Michigan State would beat them. I do think OSU is beatable--there was never any question in my mind about that this season--but not really by a Big Ten team. Before I saw this game, I was feeling confident that Michigan could beat OSU on Nov. 17th, but, even despite the mistakes OSU made, I'm not as confident anymore. It really depends on too many things to say, such as how much Michigan keeps improving and their not letting the increasing positive talk get to their heads, can they force OSU to make mistakes, how much of a difference it will make in OSU's performance that they are playing Michigan and NOT some team that doesn't matter at all, etc. The commentators are silly--they waffle so much. First half of the game, it looked like OSU deserved to be #1, then after the mistakes, no, OSU doesn't deserve to be #1, they say. The truth is it's nearly impossible to say OSU is overrated or not, given how this season is going and how often things change, even during one game. I mean, OSU is beatable, but so is pretty much every other team, as we've seen this season. How can we tell which team really deserves their ranking anymore?

The way this season has gone terms like overrated are really overstating reality. Competition is at an all time high and we the fans are a major beneficiary of this. Ohio State played a team that really wanted to win and had a quality of athlete that the Buckeyes hadn't seen much of in the past few weeks. I would hardly call the Spartans a mediocre team. I think they are a team on the rise. Give them a season or two. Your team played two solid teams early on. Face it. App. St. has won back-to-back D-I Nat'l. Titles. The only difference between App. St. athletes and major school athletes were oppurtunity, time, and, in some cases, affordability. This season is far from over.

I think they dominated michigan state, but fell asleep in the second half. Considering the coach of michigan state was a former defensive coordinator of OSU, and if you take away 3 plays, OSU wins 27 3, then, no, I don't think it proves OSU was overated. Who would you have ahead of them? LSU, who lost to two loss kentucky? OU who barely beat one win ISU? BC, who really hasn't played anyone this year? OSU is the top ranked team this year, and they should be. Are they beatable? Sure. Are they the best ever? No. But they certainly deserve the number one ranking.

No, Ohio State's defense only gave up 3 points.

Their offense gave up 14 points.

But the bottom line is that they won by 7. If their QB had not turned it over twice, they would have won by 21.

BTW the Buckeyes were favored by 7 points and they won by 7 points.

The Ohio State Buckeyes are still undefeated, they are 8-0.

But Michigan has lost 2 games already.

Even when Ohio State Alum Kirk Herbstreit says you became #1 be default you know you are overrated. Yes Ohio State has a great Defense, but it's defense has yet to be challenged by a competent offense. Remember Michigan State almost lost to teams like Pittsburgh. I would like to see Ohio states defense try to stop the West Virginia spread attack or some of the better offenses in the country. To me they are Number one because they are the only team NOT to screw up, but I do not think they are the best team in the country.

Pre-season BCS rankings mean nothing. Hence, OSU isn't number one "by default". You can never base how a team will be on their last season...that's been proven. Ohio State is an awesome team, and they let their guard down way too much against smaller teams. And, Michigan State only scored their two touchdowns defensively. Ohio State has an awesome defense, and they proved that.

Oh yeah, and Ohio State would stomp WVU. I was at the Marshall vs. WVU game, and MU was ahead and playing them hard until the 3rd quarter. Yeah...great offense.

Any team is beatable. The rating system is pretty much a mess anyway. At the end of the season we will see who ends up where and ranking won't be a factor.
On any given day any team can win against a "ranked" team.......and any "ranked team" can lose to a "lesser" team.

Well, the 2nd half was pretty bad. But MSU's offense only scored 3 pts. 14 of their 17 points were scored off of turnovers.

So it was not a very impressive offensive performance, but it did prove that OSU's defense is probably the best in the country.

I'll fully admit, however, OSU's offense needs work.

Yes it did show and a good team WILL beat them. Don't blame the BCS though. The human polls got them to 1 in the BCS not the computers.
