im doing this investigatory project on how potassium affects the soap but i found out potassium content in bananas is low and that pure potassium would burn in water.. is there a way to extract potassium (or a compound of it) from another source that is not difficult to obtain?

You must buy potassium salts supplements at supermarkets or health stores. The best for your use is potassium chloride, but there may also be amino or carbohydrate salts.

Th form of potassium in soap is potassium hydroxide, commonly called caustic potash.
