Well, it's an area of your body that is always covered, and there are natural secretions like semen, urine and sweat that can cause odors. Also, if you're not circumcised, there is a cheesy substance under the foreskin, called smegma. The solution for eliminating odors is very careful hygiene. If you have a foreskin intact, be sure and push it back when you bathe, to clean it. Otherwise, daily showering and change of underwear, and maybe using deodorant powder down there should solve the problem. Oh, and please wash your hands after using the bathroom. Lots of people don't, and it's not only gross, but spreads germs.

Sweat, it gets hot down there! Keep yerself washed everyday and even don't wear underwear. I've heard from multiple guys that it's WAY comfortable not to. Depends on what you're comfortable with though, and no it's not gross.

Wash often make sure you are dry before putting on your pants. Use corn starch based baby powder, it will absorb the odor and keep you dry and prevent any sticking of your skin.

Bathe daily, rinse well and use cottom only underwear. Also, try not to wear underwear when you sleep at night.
Its just sweat. You can also try using an antibacterial soap when you shower.
