In Basalt they have large cutouts of kids on the sidewalks, reminding drivers that there's a couple of schools nearby.

Many of them are life-size kids holding hands.

If you're a pedestrian stop and look both ways before you cross the street, and make sure you cross the street at an intersection. Bike riders should ride in the right side of the lane going with traffic and ride single file.

Use your turn signals for turning and lane changes BEFORE actually beginning the maneuver.

Don't tailgate. The car you buy may not be yours.

Go with the flow. Too slow is just as dangerous as too fast.

Don't talk on the phone. You're in a car, not a phone booth.

Always assume the other drivers are homicidal, suicidal idiots with death wishes, and drive accordingly.

Do not drink, eat or talk on a phone while driving because these things just distract you. People are not as aware on the roads when they do these things which could cause more accidents.
