i gotta go with beckett. it's all or nothing time. or at least have him ready to go out of the pen. but it's hard not to put him out there as good as he's been.

I don't think you can start him, but he's definitely an option out of the bullpen, which is what the Marlins did with him in Game 7 of the NLCS against the Cubs back in 2003. The D-Backs did the same thing with Randy Johnson when they won the World Series in 2001.

I'd go with Dice-K, who should pitch more relaxed knowing that Beckett is around in the bullpen if needed.

Dice K for 4 innings
then Lester for 2 innings
Okajima for 1 inning
Papelbon for 2 innings

after the 4th inning dicek blows up so contain that and put in lester then okajima and papelbon close it

Lineup
CF Ellsbury
2B Pedroia
DH Ortiz
LF Ramirez
3B Lowell
1B Youk
RF Drew
C Varitek
SS Lugo

makes a very solid lineup...

OMG Not Beckett on 3days, Start Mat-Su_Suk-a, he'll give up 3 or 4 runs in 4 or 5 innings, if our cruddy botom of the line-up dosen't get off their ar-se-s and put the ball in play or get HBPs, then we're doomed. Wake can pitch one inning, Okajima one inning too.

Put Beckett in as a middle reliever 6 & 7 , Okajima for 8th Pap, closes nuf-ced.

If we want game 7, Varitek, Lugo and Crispy-Creme have to get on base. I say put Ellsbury in center innings 4+ if we are down...

Beckett on 2 days rest? That could hurt him for his future, and do you really think he will be that effective? Dice-K or Wakefield. Maybe Wakefield because he was good the first 3 innings in his start.

Jon Lester. With everybody in the bullpen. The World Series does not start until Wednesday.

I agree with you, have to go with your ace, Beckett, even if it's on short rest. It's not like he threw that many pitches the last game and it's do or die.

Dice-K, its a risk but he is used to pitching in pressure situations as he did in Japan.
