I think Egypt is a fascinating country. I would love to travel there. You are very fortunate to be close to many sites of antiquity. I have promised myself that I will visit Egypt before I die.

We don't get much news about Egypt or President Mubarak. I wish we did. My impression of Egyptian politics is that you are somewhat neutral in middle east politics.

Is it safe for an American to visit?

Egypt has a large portion of their population who are radical Muslim extremists, but the government has been trending toward a respectable secular establishment for several decades.

Other than that, I've never been there, and I've met very few Egyptians, so I can't judge. As for those countries that I have visited, I always find the people are very different than the stereotypes.

I worked for years with a man who emmigrated from Egypt. He was Coptic Christian, so he probably had a different perspective from most. I think it's a land of potential not lived up to. Still, it has a rich heritage which I would someday love to see.

I love the rich history of the nation. Egypt is one of the first recorded civilization similar to today's.

They were light years ahead of their time with architecture and medical procedures. Too bad, all we ever see are movies about Rome.

Well, if you really want to know, I think that egypt is pretty insignificant in my life. I'm probably never going to go there because all it is is sand and a long dead civilization that used to be powerful.

Somewhere I'd love to go see. Totally mysterious, (creepy? lol) and just to witness the traces of this ancient civilization would be awesome.

But other than that, lol i'm not so familiar.

I don't really think about it. Just like other countries there are good hard working people taking care of their families.
