I want to feel appreciated and worth for the things I do for other people. Not just people in general. But my bf, and family. Why do they take me for granted???

the reason people take you for granted it because you let them. start standing up for yourself and let them know that you are someone who gives respect, and you in turn, want respect back.

Im not sure why, but i know the feeling and it sure sucks. Try letting people know that you appreciate them...not so much your bf and family, but maybe a teacher, a friend, a coworker or even a stranger who does a simple nice thing for you like hold open a door. What goes around comes around so give with a giving heart and you shall receive!

they take you for granted perhaps because you try too hard to do things for them and they don't appreciate that. If you feel too much of a need to feel appreciated, you have to examine yourself and make sure that it is not low esteem that makes you want to do these things and get that appreciation - it may not be - Perhaps you might enjoy volunteering somewhere that you get more appreciation, in a hospital, a domestic violence resource, or even a library. It is good that you do want to be appreciated though rather than be one of those who takes from others without appreciating what they are getting.

Why are you so needy? Confident people neither expect nor demand constant validation because... well they are confident. In a cruel twist of fate, confident people who apply themselves get validation more often than most, and it is unsolicited, and it is because they deserve it.

maybe it is because you are always doing things to make them happy and they have reached the point to where they expect it, so they no longer appreciate it. so stop doing what you are doing and think about what you want from time to time!
