Hi there
I just installed a 2001 4.3, V6 vortec in my 1996 Chevy blazer s10, the original engine was 4.3, V6 vortec but the sucker will not start. MY fuel pump and relay work, no fuses blown, every harness and ground connected, ground voltage low but can not find from where. I checked and found out the fuel injection system has no ground power and when I put starter fluid in the throttle body its starts right up then shuts off this issue is electrical so if anyone knows about it could please get some info.

I am using my old wiring and ECU I did not touch any of that it was the same as the 1996 engine plug and play. The key thing is believable, some of the new cars have a rest button to but using my old ECU it should not be an issue I hope.
Oh and the reason I say there is no ground to my fuel system that’s (Electronic Fuel Injection EFI) is because the voltage tester shows no current going into the fuel injection system. grount current the same calused to cut off fuel when a theif or a car crash

there so much that need to be asked, but here goes.

one it sounds more like a fuel problem then anything else cause it is firing as you said it started up with starting fluid.

one you need to do a fuel pressure test ( you should have 40 to 45lbs of fuel pressure with the ignition on ) it does not have to be running to test.
after you have checked that and if it test good.

you need to check the injectors and make sure that they are being triggered, you need a noid tester or a 12volt light tester, and have some one turn it over why you watch to see if they blink, if they do not blink then they are not being triggered, check wiring, grounds, make sure there isn't a wire pinched.

one of those has to be the problem as you said it runs with starting fluid, so we know it runs

and get back to me after you have run those test, but i think you'll find that its one of those

Are you using the 2001 engine controls or the original Truck engine control module? The 2001 may have a VAS Key circuit "Chip Key" and your ignition key does not? With out the Vas relay the ECM will not turn on the fuel system spark works just fine. There are wire around. You Might have to use your old fuel system and wiring harness and computer.

You have to get power to the fuel system so it will inject the gas. I believe only Ford has the pump reset switch. You say it will start on starting fluid that means it will run if it get gas. You're going to have to back track on the injection system.

Swap your old injectors assembly under the intake plenum, those came with the donor engine may be bad, just a thought.Check fuel pressure first, very critical for starting with these poppet valve injectors.

All you got to do is swap some sensors over due to the cannonplug. Just did 97 to 2000.
