An article I read today wasn't necessarily local but it really disturbed me. I started to make a Question on it here, but decided against it. Check your national news for an article about children being safe from predators within the school systems.
Locally, the Mayor of DC fired the Chief of the Health Department. Seems he's not making enough strides in HIV AIDS fight.
Another child was shot.
A private school the District contracted with to provide education to special ed students had its contract pulled due to severe substandard conditions and unlicensed teachers...yet, the District is still sending students there...????
Staph cases are piling up in schools and gyms here.
Pedestrian death toll highest in 7 yrs.
And news in my state of Virginia of the pending delegate elections with everybody throwing mud at each other.
Just another day in the neighborhood!

Yesterday we had a shootout between the police and a man firing an AK-47 assault rifle from the second floor of an apartment house east of the Strip. Three officers were wounded, but have been treated and released from the hospital. During this event, three nearby schools were placed on lock down and about 100 people were evacuated from their residences.
Of course we also have the case of "Chester the Molester", Charles Stiles, who is accused of sexually assaulting a three-year old child and videotaping the crime in progress. And, in about three weeks, the O.J. Simpson media circus will be pitching their tents outside of our county courthouse.
Just a quiet time in Southern Nevada. LOL!

A rise in mortgage foreclosures and dropping house prices are finally reducing an over-inflated house market.
My next article for the local paper will be about how going to job fairs, fall festivals, and other events is turning into Halloween style giveaways and freebies for grownups!

You know, I just put it straight into the bin. I am a 'hater of junk mail, leaflets, and local news freak". I get to the point that I am already drowning in papers, and I thought all this would disappear with the computer era. But I think it has increased.

Snow! A big storm is in the forecast for today and tonight. Yesterday was "the warm before the storm" and today there was some rain and later we should have "measurable" snow in the valley. I don't think it's going to happen though. Sorry, it's kind of boring here in Utah.
The mine disaster has pretty well been forgotten, and Warren Jeff's has had his trial.

the supposedly regeneration of my city of Bradford . I don't think it will be completed in my life time as up to now we only have a pyramid and huge bomb crater where they pulled some lovely buildings down .Its been like that for three years now and getting nowhere even though they keep spouting about the "regeneration of Bradford"
