I have a ghostly cat living (for want of a better word) in my bedroom. I heard it miaowing and things tend to fall off my shelves by themselves, as if pushed by a cat.

I also woke up in the night once and heard purring coming from the foot of my bed. The next morning there was cat hair there.

I don't own a cat, so this is very unusual.

Other than that, it HAS to be my boss. He's not actually old, but he has a look about him that suggests he's dead. His skin's sort of greyish, and he lurches around with his eyes half closed (he smokes Rastabacco, if you know what I mean). One time he actually touched my hand, and his hand was really cold. In summer.

I like that ghostly cat story. In Sept. of '02, about 4 a.m. I couldn't sleep and went out back for a cigarette. Warm, quiet, wooded area in CA. As I sat looking around, sober, a male figure, neatly dressed, rose vertically out of the ground about 10 feet away, facing me,as if he rode up a very small elevator. He was not transparent, nor scary-looking. He looked to be about 30 years old. He said, in plain english. " I am ____, the King of Hell." Judging by his entrance, I didn't doubt him. As a churchgoer, I knew such things were possible, but why me? I asked him what he wanted. " Needy people" he answered. Knowing I was treading on risky spiritual ground, and shouldn't even talk to him, I said I was needy (just to see what he would do-it's not every day one gets to talk to a spirit face-to-face), and he said, with a knowing air about him, "I can't help you-you're a Christian". At that, a small troll or gnome-like man thing popped up at his feet and sneered: "you're a Criiissstiiannn!" then popped back down out of sight. I was fascinated-'so these things really exist' I thought. The preceeding narrative is entirely true. To continue: ( sorry about the interruption) Although the fellow told me his name, I chose not to remember because of the old 'speak of the devil' lore. It was two 3-letter syllables starting with H. The conversation lasted almost an hour, him doing most of the speaking. Although he had my full attention, I don't remember every word probably due to a 'gee-whiz' effect. Could this really be happening to me? It did. He mentioned that he likes fire and light, but hates water; that he was over 400 years old, and he performed a number of signs and wonders such as levitating small objects and making a glass appear and disappear in front of me. He gave me the impression that he was very wise and powerful with just his posture and tone, like a teacher talking to a small child. When he was done, he cast his left arm around, and a mass of mature dandelions sprang up from dry, hard clay soil. Then he sank back into the ground, leaving the weeds behind. If this weren't true I wouldn't waste our time with it. The patch of ground had no mark on it, and the dandelions were gone by sun-up. The impression the event left on me is that: spirits are real, hell is real, and this planet is a halfway ground between God and Hell. If I weren't a believer in spiritual things before, I sure am now, and I pity the poor soul who wishes to sin. Hell is not cool! End of narrative.
