that they are not world beaters, they are a mediocre nation with mediocre talent and don't have a God given right to succeed in everything they do or attempt to do????????

First of all realise IS spelt with an S not a Z and I do sympathise with the English players, they played the game to their strengths, which, whether you agree with it or not is only a matter of opinion. My point was that the press and public alike seem to assume that no matter what competition they enter they DESERVE to win.THEY DONT, they must compete like everyone else and dubious decisions(which tonights alleged try was not one)are part of every game. For some reason the players are built up to be superhuman then critisised when they dont measure up.Support them win, lose or draw and dont EXPECT.

Jealous? lmao.OH how deluded. No im not Scottish but I would choose being Scottish over the English if i had to.The team I support deserved to be put out and I have no complaints or would dream of using excuses, like i said, know your limitations.

I agree with the statement written here by heefers5. Isn't it obvious in the arrogant responses. Just a few to think on.

1) Miz Boon’s Ghost – personally I wouldn't want one!!!!!!! Dumb remark
2) Keypoint – the referee in the World Cup final was from the northern hemisphere, he and the other officials of the game got it 100% correct. I don’t know what rugby rules you follow!!!!! Sour grapes
3) Mark Ever – you showed the most ignorance of all for the following reasons
a. English is widely spoken because when England conquered nations they forced the indigenous peoples to speak it.
b. Correct the Westminster system of justice is applied in many parts of the world. Not copied but transported by the conquerors.
c. Ask any indigenous nation about the respect shown to them when England took their land.
d. This line was the most arrogant of all - for everyone to be treated in accordance with the rights ‘we think they should have’.

This shows England still has a superiority complex. You are not superior - MEDIOCRE absolutely. Just like the rest of the world but we have identified that we are all humans and equal. This is what motivates us to strive for excellence in all we attempt and not just to expect it. Wake up and start looking at yourselves.

Maybe you're right although I don't think so. We did as I recall invent among other things the laser, the jet engine, and we split the atom. We seem to do OK at education or otherwise all our Uni's would not be full of visitiors striving to improve their chances. If you add to that our natural modesty, good looks, charm and inherent artistic flair that makes us pretty special. No we don't have any more God given rights than anyone else. It's just that we are much better at using what we have been given. Well everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Well as people are saying we got to the final so thats good in itself.

You know the type of world we live in today, it really doesnt need any more hostility from untelligent people who simply want to offend. Find something more worthwhile to talk about.

EDIT: Theres a huge contradiction to the addition you have made to your question since. If that is what you meant then why post it in the offensive manner of saying "mediocre nation with a mediocre talent"? That seems like an insult to me not you trying to explain how they are built up and then cast down.

Sorry to burst your bubble but if thats what the press and the media will say or do then thats fine, but do realise that the majority of England realises that its a competition and we enjoy the game just as everyone does and WE DONT EXPECT TO WIN THATS JUST AN ASSUMPTION YOU HAVE MADE YOURSELF, so far on here I have seen many more South African people knock us for losing.

Sorry but next time make your question clearer.

I'm pretty sure Ernest Rutherford, a New Zealander, split the atom. However the English are certainly repsonsible for many positive things (rugby for one) and mediocrity is not something you can honestly associate with them. We don't think we have a God-given right but to quote a famous person 'it is you who say I do'.

Speaking as an Englishman the bit about "god given right to succeed" annoys me too, we need more professionalism. The only right to win things or be in competitions like european or world cups is earned by winning games. But we have as much talent as anyone else its just a question of how we use it.

I don't remember anyone saying anything like that - if every team had your attitude they wouldn't win a thing - I wonder where you're from? I get tired of all this English-bashing - we've achieved a damn sight more with our little country than a lot of others. If you wish to spew vitriol over the net at least have the courage to tell us where you're from rather than hiding behind easy assumptions.

England played all the rugby tonight - RSA were very lucky.

I think the Poms can be very proud of their team. They succeeded in playing a game no one thought they had in them, sure they didn't win but they showed the world that they can play rugby after all.

The standard of refereeing at this cup has not been great.

We have many things to be proud of, and being mediocre is not one of them. We are in fact, not even nearly mediocre.

Our language is spoken widely, our inventions grace the world's people, our discoveries form a great deal of the world's learning and our sense of fairness and justice is copied in many parts of the world.

It is indeed our repsect for others and the will for everyone to be treated in accordance with the rights we think they should have that allows you to make the statement that you have without fear of persecution and intimidation.

You can call us mediocre as much as you like. I am very lucky and proud to have been born English, and I hope that I can do that fact credit in my lifetime.
